Top 5 Indian Kids Lehenga Shops in Australia

Summary

Buying a lehenga for a little girl is different from buying one for yourself. She'll grow out of it fast. She needs to be able to run, sit on the floor and eat in it. And it has to arrive before the function, not the week after.

This guide compares five shops that sell kids lehengas to Australian families. Instead of long shop reviews, it's built around the questions parents actually have: what age does each shop cover, what does it cost, when do I need to order for Diwali, and what if it doesn't fit?

Every number here comes from each shop's own website, checked on 6 October 2026. The sources are listed at the bottom.

Quick answer: where can I buy a kids lehenga in Australia? For most families, start with Gleemium Fashion: prices in Australian dollars, free delivery with no minimum, a measured size guide on every listing, and festival lehengas from A$42.75. For the biggest choice at a low price, BownBee Australia (exchange only, within 48 hours). For a wedding-grade lehenga you can see in a shop, Manilal & Sons in Melbourne. For hundreds of designs and US dollar pricing, Little Muffet. For South Indian pattu pavadai and baby sizes, Chennai Store in Sydney.

  • BownBee has the most kids lehengas of the Australian shops: 49 in stock, A$45 to A$75. But it's exchange only, within 48 hours of delivery. [5][6]
  • Manilal & Sons is the dressy option: 19 lehenga cholis, median A$139, and the longest return window at 21 days. [7][8]
  • Little Muffet has 418 lehengas, but prices are in US dollars, and returns go back to Mumbai at your cost. [9][10]
  • For babies under one, BownBee, Chennai Store and Little Muffet all start at 3 to 6 months. [5][9][11]
  • Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. For made-to-order lehengas, order by about Tuesday 20 October. [2][13]
Who wrote this: Gleemium Fashion, one of the five shops. We put ourselves first because we tick the most boxes on the report card below, not because we're the biggest. BownBee and Little Muffet both have more lehengas than we do, and Manilal & Sons gives you longer to return. You'll see all of that below.

The Report Card

Seven things parents told us they check before buying. A green tick means yes, a red cross means no, and a tilde (~) means partly. On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see all five shops.

A note on numbered sizes. Gleemium Fashion and Manilal & Sons label kids lehengas with numbers like 20, 24 or 28. That number is roughly the length of the outfit in inches, not her age. Gleemium Fashion's size guide on each listing turns those numbers into ages, with chest, waist and length in inches and centimetres. [1][7]

Parent's Notes

Short notes on each shop: who it's best for, what it costs, and what to watch out for.

1

Gleemium Fashion

Best for
Families who want a festival lehenga at a fair price, delivered free, with a proper size guide to get the fit right.
The range
24 kids lehenga listings in stock, A$42.75 to A$140, median A$75. Six are A$50 or under. They include Diwali pattu and Paithani lehengas with silk dupattas, Navratri lehengas in kora cotton and mirror-work silk, and soft net lehengas for little ones.
What we do well
Free delivery anywhere in Australia, no minimum. A size guide on every listing, by age, in inches and centimetres. Custom stitching on request if she's between sizes. Afterpay at checkout. And a boutique in Seville Grove, Perth, open 7 days, if you'd like to see the fabric first.
What to watch
15 of the 24 are made to order. They take 10 to 14 business days on free delivery and can't be returned for change of mind. The 9 in-stock lehengas arrive in 5 to 8 business days and can be returned within 14 days (refund less 10%). BownBee has twice as many lehengas as we do, and one of our georgette sets is listed seven times, so there are fewer different designs than the count suggests.

Diwali 2026: When to Order

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. To have the lehenga by Friday 6 November, here's roughly when to order from each shop, based on their published delivery times. Add a few days if you live in a regional area. [13]

Shop Delivery time Order by about
Gleemium Fashion, made to order 10 to 14 business days Tuesday 20 October
Gleemium Fashion, in stock 5 to 8 business days Wednesday 28 October
BownBee Australia 3 to 7 business days Thursday 29 October. A week earlier if you might need to swap a size
Manilal & Sons Ready to ship from Melbourne, no time published Mid-October, or visit the store
Little Muffet Estimated date shown at checkout Check the date at checkout before you pay
Chennai Store 1 to 3 business days Monday 2 November

Tip: order a week before the date in the table if you can. It gives you time to try it on, and to swap a size if needed. [2][6][8][10][12]

Stitched, Semi-Stitched or Fabric?

People often search "how to stitch a lehenga for kids". For most parents, the easier answer is: don't. Here are the three ways kids lehengas are sold.

  • Stitched (ready to wear). Choose a size and she wears it the day it arrives. All five shops here sell kids lehengas this way.
  • Semi-stitched. The skirt is mostly made but the waist is left open, so a tailor can fit it. Handy if she's between sizes, but it means a trip to a tailor.
  • Fabric only. You get the material and a tailor makes it from scratch. Expect to pay for stitching and wait a week or two.

If you'd like a stitched lehenga made to her measurements, Gleemium Fashion offers custom stitching on request. Message us before you order.

How to Wear a Dupatta on a Child's Lehenga

The dupatta is the bit that falls off first. Three easy ways to keep it on, from youngest to oldest:

  1. Under 3: leave it off, or tie it round the waist. A loose dupatta near the neck isn't safe for a toddler. Knot it loosely at the hip like a sash, or skip it altogether.
  2. Ages 3 to 8: over one shoulder, pinned. Pleat it into a strip about the width of her hand. Lay it over her left shoulder so it hangs down the back, and pin it to the inside of the blouse with a small safety pin.
  3. Ages 8 and up: across the front. Pin one end at the right hip, bring it across her front and over the left shoulder, then pin it at the shoulder. It stays put through dancing and photos.

Always pin on the inside of the blouse, so the pin can't scratch her.

Two Shops We Checked and Didn't Rank

  • TDO Australia. Its girls page shows up in searches, but we found only 3 kids lehengas in stock, all at A$90.89, each with a 10-day dispatch time. [14]
  • Aza Fashions. A well-known Indian designer store with an Australian page for kids lehengas. Its site blocked our automated check with a security screen, so we couldn't confirm prices, currency or delivery terms for this guide.

For context: at June 2025, 971,020 people living in Australia were born in India, the largest overseas-born group for the first time. A lot of families are shopping for Diwali outfits this month. [15]

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy a kids lehenga in Australia?

Gleemium Fashion has 24 kids lehengas from A$42.75 with free delivery. BownBee Australia has 49 from A$45. Manilal & Sons in Dandenong has dressier lehenga cholis from a median A$139. Little Muffet has 418 but prices in US dollars. Chennai Store in Sydney has pattu pavadai and baby sizes.

How much does a kids lehenga cost in Australia?

Among the Australian shops compared here, most kids lehengas cost between A$45 and A$140. Typical prices are A$55 at BownBee, A$75 at Gleemium Fashion and A$139 at Manilal & Sons.

What size lehenga should I buy for my daughter?

Use the shop's size guide rather than her age alone. Numbered sizes like 20 or 24 refer roughly to the outfit length in inches, not age. Measure her chest, waist and the length from waist to ankle, and compare. If she's between sizes, go up one.

Can I buy a lehenga for a baby in Australia?

Yes. BownBee Australia and Chennai Store both sell lehengas from 3–6 months, and Little Muffet covers ages 0 to 15. For babies, choose soft cotton or lined net, and skip the dupatta.

How do you wear a dupatta on a kids lehenga?

For toddlers under 3, leave it off or tie it loosely at the hip. For ages 3 to 8, pleat it and pin it over one shoulder. For older girls, pin one end at the right hip, bring it across the front and pin it at the left shoulder. Always pin on the inside of the blouse.

How do you stitch a lehenga for kids?

Most parents buy a stitched, ready-to-wear lehenga instead. If you have fabric, a tailor will need her chest, waist, and waist-to-ankle length, and usually a week or two. Gleemium Fashion also offers custom stitching on request.

When should I order a kids lehenga for Diwali 2026?

Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. Order made-to-order lehengas from Gleemium Fashion by about Tuesday 20 October, in-stock lehengas by Wednesday 28 October, and from BownBee by Thursday 29 October. Leave an extra week if you might need to swap a size.

Which shop has the best returns for kids lehengas?

Manilal & Sons, with a 21-day return policy. Gleemium Fashion gives 14 days on in-stock items, less a 10% restocking fee. BownBee is exchange only within 48 hours, Chennai Store doesn't take change-of-mind returns, and Little Muffet's returns go to Mumbai at your cost.

Do these shops sell South Indian pattu lehengas?

Yes. Gleemium Fashion has Diwali pattu and Paithani lehengas, BownBee has South Indian pattu lehengas, and Chennai Store has pattu pavadai and pavadai thavani sets.

Are these figures current?

They were correct on 6 October 2026. Stock and prices change quickly before Diwali, so check before you order.
